CANCER:
A Turning Point - An Interview with Dr. Lawrence LeShan
Approx. 40 minutes - VHS $29.95
I personally believe that the psychological aspects of
cancer are one of the most important and overlooked components
of the development and healing of cancer. What could be
more important than assuring that there is fertile ground
for the treatment you choose. (see Psychological
Aspects of Cancer.)
Classic psychotherapy is daunting and ineffective at helping
people survive cancer, but Lawrence LeShan pioneered a more
pleasant therapeutic adventure aimed at rediscovering what
brings you satisfaction in life which can result in awaking
our immune systems. His approach has had remarkable results
even for many patients with terminal cancer.

Healing/Dying:
An Interview with Stephen Levine
Length - 55min. VHS tape - $29.95
Healing Dying: An Interview with Stephen Levine started
out of my work on the documentary. After Cindy's death I
realized I should include information to help the survivors
through their grief. I became aware of Stephen Levine's
work and interviewed him. I was very impressed. The word
that comes to mind is transformational. His interview covered
so much more than grieving.
Stephen Levine is a Buddhist, and teacher who works with
people who are ill and those who are dying. He co-authored
Grist for the Mill with Ram Dass and taught meditation in
the California prison system. He led workshops with Elizabeth
Kubler-Ross and, while working with the terminally ill,
he began to formulate his concepts of healing. He and his
wife, Ondrea, earned international recognition for their
guided meditations for the healing of illness, grief, heavy
emotional states, sexual abuse and life/death preparation.
He has authored A Year to Live; Guided Meditations, Explorations
and Healings; A Gradual Awakening; Meetings at the Edge;
Healing into Life and Death, and Who Dies which he co-authored
with Ondrea Levine.
Healing/Dying : An Interview with Stephen Levine
is divided into two parts. The first part deals with healing
from illness and healing grief. The second part deals with
caring for the dying person, and dealing with process of
losing someone you love.
Having seen the tape numerous times while editing it,
I can tell you this. Every time I watch or listen to it,
I hear or understand something I didn't before. If you are
familiar with his books then you know of the quality and
depth of which he speaks, and this tape is no different.
It is inspiring and life changing.
See "A Meditation on Taking
Medicine Within" for a meditation to enhance medication.

LeShan, Ph.D. - $12.95
This is arguably the most single most important book for
people wanting to survive cancer to read. This is a revised

and meditating for change and growth.

Human
Operator's Manual: How Feelings Work, A Psychological Primer
By Stuart Zelman, Ph.D., and David Bognar
Cost $8.95
This book is a psychological primer, a manual on understanding
feelings and how people function internally. The book explains
exactly what feelings are, how they work, how we avoid them,
and what happens to avoided feelings. It explains how these
old feelings color our experience and perceptions, create
pain, and block positive experience. The book explains how
to regain full access to experience and the benefits and
process of releasing old feelings. Information on self help
basics makes up the final section of the book. This includes
communicating emotions, the change process, self esteem,
attitude, and information on choosing a therapist.
Although not specifically cancer related, this self-published
book is an excellent summary of the state-of-the-art knowledge
about feelings which can be useful healing information for
cancer patients and their families.
